Ex Libris - David Bekker

Exlibris is a Latin locution that means literally, from among the books of, i.e., book coming from among the books of a public or private library. A exlibris is a property mark that usually consists of a stamp, label, or seal that is typically placed on the back cover or lid of a book and contains the name of the owner of the copy or the owning library. The owner's name is usually preceded by the Latin expression ex libris (or also frequently ex bibliotheca, or e-libris), although we can find variants (e.g. I am from... or similar). David Yona Bekker was born in Vilna, Lithuania in 1897. He studied art at the Antikolsky Academy of Vilna His father, Abraham Menajem Mendel Bekker, encouraged young David in his artistic inclinations .
