Igor Amelkovich's Erotic Photography
Igor Amelkovich is a photographer who resides in the city of Chelyabinsk, south of the Ural Mountains in Russia. He studied radio engineering at university and began taking photographs on his own from 1999. He works exclusively with film and a Hasselblad 503CW camera with two lenses, one Planar 80/2.8 and one Sonnar 150/4. Igor avoids digital treatment, using it only to clean the photos of dust and scratches. Artistically, he maintains two interests, landscape photography and nudes, although he occasionally uses color, black and white is dominant in his work.
Igor Amelkovich takes great care with each detail in his photographs. Symbolism is present throughout his work, accentuated by his mastery of light, both indoors and outdoors. Industrial environments attract him notably, and with the help of sculptural bodies of his models, he achieves an erotic effect with large doses of drama and fetishistic touches that make his photos true works of art.
The black and white of Amelkovich's photographs turns his nudes into a demonstration of visual strength, where feminine beauty is not weakened by nudity, but rather reinforced. Igor seeks to express his own idea of Erotic Art and for this he does not only play with different aesthetic concepts, but also with all the necessary technical material, lights, flash, film, lenses... There is nothing gratuitous in his images, everything is in perfect harmony with the whole.
