In this March day
we remember in the world
united and with effort
recognized we achieve.

Many were not respected
always they humiliated
devalued them
by their condition of woman.

We have already achieved much
but there is still to be overcome
some suffer violence
not treated as a being.

Not all are happy
do not enjoy equality
let us fight tirelessly
to reach our goal.

We will achieve one day having
very well deserved perhaps
but the day of the woman
may it be for eternity.

The International Day of the Working Woman (or also International Women's Day) is celebrated on March 8 and is recognized by the United Nations (UN). On this day, the struggle of women to participate equally with men in society and their full development as individuals is commemorated. It is a national holiday in some countries.

The idea of an international day for women emerged at the end of the 19th century, during the Industrial Revolution and the peak of the labor movement. The celebration reflects a struggle already undertaken in ancient Greece by Lisistrata, who started a sexual strike against men to end war, and which was reflected in the French Revolution: Parisian women, demanding liberty, equality, and fraternity, marched on Versailles to demand female suffrage, but it wasn't until the early years of the 20th century that different international organizations from the left began proclaiming a specific day of struggle for women and their rights.
