It turns out that Ryan just got out of a relationship and is really shaken up, and his parents don't want to leave him alone because they're afraid he might do something silly, so they've decided to hire a nanny to watch over him while they're away. At first things were a bit tense between them because the games Alli is used to entertaining small children with aren't exactly Ryan's thing, but it seems like they ended up understanding each other in the end.
