To my friends I owe tenderness and words of encouragement and the hug, sharing with all of them the bill that life presents step by step. To my friends I owe patience for tolerating my thornier spines, outbursts of humor, negligence, vanities, fears, and doubts. A fragile paper boat sometimes seems like friendship but never can it withstand the most violent storm because that paper boat has a heart, a heart, my heart grasping its helm as captain and helmsman. To my friends I owe some annoyance that once disturbed our harmony; we all know that it's not a sin to argue sometimes over a friend. To my friends I'll leave when I die my devotion in the chord of a guitar and among the forgotten verses of a poem My poor incorrigible soul of cricket.
