breve ensayo sobre la mentalidad sexual contemporanea

The mentality about sex, sexuality, and pornography has changed a lot with the young; perhaps this is one of the most important generational differences. Currently, these topics have been freed from all prejudice, reminding me a bit of other eras of human history prior to Catholicism, such as the Greeks and Romans, mentioning only two that everyone knows. We all know about the changes in mentality about marriage, single mothers, monogamy, and more recently, homosexuality. The last and most recent one, driven by the younger ones (just like before), is about pornography as something natural and acceptable. To give a concrete example, I'll cite an Argentine forum called Poringa, made by its participants, people of all ages and nationalities (although mostly young). There, men and women upload their own pornographic material, photos they take themselves naked, partial, total, and close-ups of their genitals; also, homemade photos and videos having sex with their partners. This forum has over 7 million participants and is just one of many similar ones. On paid TV, there are pornography channels in all countries, and even on open TV, at the end of programming, messages start appearing sent from cell phones by viewers, seeking to meet up for sex, whether already married couples or young people of both sexes and homosexuals, of all ages and social classes. I wonder: Did those ancient societies that lasted thousands of years and advanced so much have any problems with their free handling of sexuality, or did we start having problems when we began repressing everything due to religion and false morality? Is this not an answer to a basic and natural instinct that has been repressed for centuries, justified solely by a '... supposed moral, a moral that each society invents and modifies according to its convenience and will? I now remember my great-great-aunt, considered the precursor of erotic poetry on our continent, in her time was judged harshly and socially condemned, and if she had done so only a century earlier, would have been burned at the stake. Now she enjoys great prestige as an ahead-of-her-time pioneer. (My great-great-aunt was Juana de Ibarbouru, a poet who appears today on the most valuable bills in my country and her friend, I don't remember now the name). As a result of all this I still keep asking: is pornography bad, does whoever participates have an unhealthy or narrow-minded mind, or will it be the opposite?

de un fruto, de una estrella o una flor;

y a quienes nadie osara fabricarles ropajes.
