Two actors from X films star in a campaign against child pornography in Belgium

Child pornography is not pornography but abuse towards vulnerable people. No one better to convey this message than the professionals of the sex industry themselves. The organization, created in 1988 by a group of parents whose sons suffered abuse, was clear that to alert people to this phenomenon, you couldn't use the very images they were fighting against, so it was necessary to create a metaphor. So, the campaign consists of a series of posters and videos starring Siffredi and PussyKat in which, with complete sobriety, they encourage the population to put an X on child pornography.

In practice, Child Abuse's officials hope that this X will translate into greater citizen cooperation to pursue these crimes over the internet. So, they have enabled a mechanism on their website (www.stopchildporno.be) so that internet users who may stumble upon this type of images by chance can present anonymous denunciations, something that is not possible if you go directly to the police, explains Depover.

Although the campaign will only be distributed in Belgium - at least for now -, the spokesperson expects an impact beyond national borders, since the data will be sent to the police, which will cooperate with the security forces of other countries. That collaboration has allowed Interpol, the largest international police organization, with 190 associated countries, to identify 2,500 child victims of sexual abuse in 40 countries over two and a half years, according to Child Abuse.

Last year alone, the organization received almost 1,500 alerts about cases allegedly related to child pornography, which represents a 9% increase compared to the previous year's figures. Depover insists that the pursuit of these cases is not so much about identifying consumers and producers, but above all, identifying and protecting children.

The campaign, which will be distributed through posters, media, and possibly cinemas, has been funded 80% by the European Commission.
