Vanessa del Río (her true name is Ana María Sanchez), was born on March 31, 1952 in Harlem, New York. Daughter of Cuban and Puerto Rican immigrants, she left a job with less than 20 years old to become a dancer. Before filming her first movies, she also practiced prostitution. She started her career in the adult film industry in 1975. Considered one of the greatest stars of porn cinema, she stood out for her oral sex scenes. As fiery as few, she made over 100 films until her retirement in 1986, partly due to fear of AIDS at the time. She later returned, dedicating herself to bodybuilding and a little later, continuing her career through her website and making appearances at awards and conventions. She received the Adult Film Awards prize in 1980 and 1981 for the films Drácula Exótica and Dancers.
