Shibari is the Japanese term for type bondage, performed as a refined sexual practice. Unlike bondage, it is not absolutely necessary that the person be immobilized, totally or partially. While shibari defines the action, kimbaku refers to the art of binding. It's important to highlight the conceptual difference between Japanese shibari and Western-oriented cordages (Bondage), which generally aim only at immobilizing the subject bondaged. The art of shibari does not necessarily imply immobilization and has other aspects, such as the aesthetic quality of the rope-binding-submissive ensemble, the triangular plane formed by the master, the bound person, and the spectator (very important in Japanese tradition) and takes into account the energetic effect - negative or positive - on certain points of the body of the person surrendered to the master, related to the energy meridians of the human body according to traditional Eastern medicine.
