Yannick Bouchard was born in 1982, in Chicoutimi (Québec, Canada). He obtained his bachelor's degree in visual arts from the University of Laval in Quebec City in 2005.
His first source of inspiration were surrealist painters, a world of peculiar images with dark meanings, subconscious mysteries and dreams, which formed a different view on perception, reality, human mind and desires.
His paintings are a mix of all these genres; surrealism, fantasy, erotic, with a touch of symbolism and sometimes approaching the macabre. Most are images that result from internal thoughts and feelings; and the expression of his love for the human body, inspiring feminine curves, as well as what inhabits the human mind, the mystical and magical, or simply small simple things like textures, colors and nature.
