(Bologna, August 16, 1557 – Parma, March 22, 1602) Italian painter and engraver of the Baroque period. Painter who followed nature as an ideal, along with his relatives Annibale and Ludovico, founder of a school that sought a more particularized view of it, and in a certain way rival to the preconized style by Caravaggio. This pictorial style, which found great echo in the religious environment of the Counter-Reformation, is called Bolognese classicism. His pictorial models were, among others, Federico Barocci, Tintoretto, Antonio Campi and Correggio, whose famous works he made copies of. With his brother Annibale, he founded the Academy of the Guided or Desired, promoting a style opposed to Mannerism that will soon impose itself despite the criticisms from the Mannerist environments in Bologna. Concido con @angieyruben, en esa época mucha osadía, debemos suponer que son láminas y no cuadros, no me imagino alguna de estas obras colgada en el salón de un castillo.
Pero seguramente tenía clientela dispuesta a pagar por ellas, los orígenes de P! se remontan a tiempos muy antiguos.
