From 1848 onwards, he realized a large number of illustrations based on historical motifs, and many others about the works of some poets. As court painter, he accompanied in 1850 the young Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg and his brother Charles Louis on their journey through Near Eastern. Since 1853 until 1871 was professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. But the most striking works of this artist are his erotic court watercolors. Various poses for sexual acts are shown in them, and in some of the illustrations men give the idea of monastic habit
