Jia Lu was a precocious and active girl who found her lifestyle in drawing and whose imagination was fed by Chinese hero legends as well as European fairy tales. My painting ideas come from my readings of philosophy, poetry, and other visual arts like film and theater. I like opera and dance because I love dramatic lighting and setting up scenes. I carry a notebook of ideas and miniature sketches that I add almost every day, including a daily dream. Many ideas come from dreams, some inspire previous sketches I've made of models. Sometimes I'm surprised by a photograph or painting by another artist, and all I want is to achieve something similar in my work. Generally, painting ideas come flooding in around midnight. Michael Hutter is a German painter, graphic artist, and photocomposer who has probably visited the dark corners of purgatory after passing through Sodom and Gomorrah and immersing himself in Divine Comedy, resulting in a work with oil paints on pressed wood plates, inks, acrylics, drawings, and photocompositions with old photographs and Photoshop that reflects part of this esoteric experience. All of this seasoned with good doses of uncontrolled eroticism, where monsters from deep-seated nightmares copulate alongside virgins in classical environments more typical of medieval times than our century. François explores the simplest form of expression: black lines on a white background, although in some of his works, color appears minimally or he experiments with image completion. His artistic exploration is based on simplicity, seeking the elemental. His work somehow suggests primitive cave paintings, the exploration of themes and forms that have inhabited humanity's psyche since the dawn of time. The strict use of black and white is a calming antidote to stress, hysteria, and intermittent flashes from the outside world.
