Nicole Kidman with her booty out in the air

Nicole Kidman with her booty out in the airNicole Mary Kidman (b. June 20, 1967) is an Australian-American actress.1 She is a winner of the Oscar, three Golden Globe Awards, and one BAFTA. She has a younger sister, Antonia Kidman, who is an actress, journalist, and Australian television presenter. In 2006, she became the highest-paid actress in the film industry.2

After making several appearances in film and television, Kidman got her role that led to her fame in the 1989 thriller Total Panic. Her performances in various films, such as A Dream of Dreams (1995), Moulin Rouge! (2001), and The Hours (2002), have received praise from critics and in the 2000s she would be considered one of the best actresses in the world. In 2003, Kidman received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California. Kidman is also an ambassador for UNIFEM and UNICEF, and a singer.

On October 21, 2009, the actress requested an integrated response to the violence suffered by women before the United States Congress.3

In 2006, Kidman received the highest civil honor in Australia, being awarded the Order of Australia.4BioographyBorn in Honolulu, Hawaii. Until the age of four, she lived in the United States when her family moved to Australia. Her father Anthony Kidman, a biochemist, was researching breast cancer in Washington and was also a university professor in Sydney, Australia.

Kidman had started taking ballet classes at the age of three and entered a theater school for young people in Australia. Her father worried that she and her younger sister would have good physical condition, so he made them do gymnastics exercises every morning.

At 16 years old (in 1983) Kidman began her acting career when she appeared in a Christmas-themed movie, Bush Christmas, which is still frequently projected during the holiday season. When her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, Nicole Kidman dropped out of school, but once her mother recovered, she resumed her acting career.

Throughout the 1980s, she appeared in numerous Australian films and television series.

In 1988, she became known in Europe and the United States with the film Total Calm, shot in Australia, co-starring actor Sam Neill, and with her next film, already in Hollywood, Thunder Days, in which she played a neurosurgeon, paired with Tom Cruise's character.

Kidman had already achieved fame and demonstrated her acting skills and elegance in subsequent films, in which she acted alongside popular actors such as Bruce Willis and Dustin Hoffman. In 1998, she starred alongside Sandra Bullock in the film Practically Magic, based on Alice Hoffman's novel. In 1999, she made Eyes Wide Shut (Ojos bien cerrados) with her husband, which would be the last film of director Stanley Kubrick, and had a great resonance.

Also in 2001, she participated with British singer Robbie Williams in a cover of Frank Sinatra's song Something Stupid. The song was a huge success in Europe, being number one in several countries. major professional recognition until then she obtained in 2002, when she was nominated for an Oscar as best leading actress for her role in Moulin Rouge! the film that would consecrate her as a star in Hollywood and distance her from the image of Tom Cruise's wife. With the suspense film The Others, directed by Spanish director Alejandro Amenábar, shot in the same year, she also achieved significant success. She had to give up intervening in Panic Room due to a knee injury contracted during the filming of Moulin Rouge, but in 2002 she won the Oscar for best leading actress for her interpretation of the character of writer Virginia Woolf in The Hours.

In 2004, she would work with famous director Lars Von Trier on Dogville, a film that was received with very good reviews at the Cannes Film Festival. Not far from controversy, Kidman would reprise her role as working with the director on the second part.

In 2004, she obtained her last nomination for the Golden Globes for Birth, where many critics and cinephiles would give one of the best performances of her career, the film was directed by Jonathan Glazer and showed a 6-minute very applauded and remembered plan of Kidman's face, where she shows diverse and complex emotions.

In 2006, she starred in the film Portrait of an Obsession by Steven Sheinberg, sharing credits with Robert Downey Jr. Although the film was not a success, it became a symbol of fetish and the bizarre over time.

In 2009, she acted in another musical, this time in Nine. It is often said that this film is a remake or update of Otto e mezzo (Eight and a Half) by Federico Fellini, although it actually adapts (in cinematic format) a musical inspired by Fellini's film. The musical premiered in 1982 with Raul Julia as the protagonist. Fellini gave his approval for the creation of this show, but asked that it not have the same title as his movie and that his name did not appear either. Therefore, the musical was called Nine (Nueve) instead of Eight and a half, and the main character maintains the name Guido, which appeared in Fellini's movie. The recent version by Rob Marshall sticks faithfully to the musical.

The film cast was considered one of the brightest of recent years, consisting of several Oscar winners: Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and Penélope Cruz. Other actresses who complete the cast are Oscar-nominated Kate Hudson and R&B and Hip-Hop singer Fergie, vocalist of the Black Eyed Peas.

In its first weekend, Nine barely reached $6 million in the United States, a terrible figure considering it cost $80 million due to simultaneous release with the movie Avatar (the most profitable film in history). Three weeks after its premiere, Nine collected the cold sum of $18 million, with a great loss that put its producers in a tight spot.

In 2010, Rabbit Hole premiered at the Toronto festival, produced by Blossom Films. The film received very good reviews and earned nominations for the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, and Oscars.

That same year, Nicole Kidman was in talks to produce and finance a film based on the book The Danish Girl, with Kidman working to find a director and co-star.

In 2011, it was announced that she would star in the debut of South Korean director Park Chan-wook in the United States, titled STOKER, the secret about this film has intrigued cinephiles as it is being shot in total secrecy.Intimately
