Porno in Oil - Artistic Proposal by Miguel Ángel Garrid

The endless reproduction of images today also leads to the exploitation of eroticism, a culture of seduction tied to the game of sexual prohibition. The supposed original meaning has been blocked. In mass production, nudity is no longer just a genre, it degenerated into practice between exhibitionism and self-knowledge.

In the current ocean of pornography, sexual acts can seem lascivious, sickly, or demonic according to the moral rules of captives. Miguel Ángel Garrido takes advantage of circumstances: the continuous dispersal of images on the internet, circulating double or triple morals, and exacerbated sexuality; all for pouring it into plastic issues, expressively pictorial.

The models for his paintings are photographs of sexual acts downloaded from the net, which he chooses with precise observation of bodies and proportions. The supposed obscenity and perversion are just an excuse to turn the body into new matter and form. His true intention is to traverse figures, flay skin with a brush to turn it into pasty surfaces.

Miguel Ángel selects cuts with aesthetic and dramatic intentions, detects color fields that he applies nervously onto the canvas, in strokes, straight lines, curves, short or long forming new epithelial tissue. A multitude of intense movements build expressive gestures on bodies full of joy. Mouths, tongues, penises, vaginas, etc., seem to have their own life. Instead of immersing yourself in the erotic, you immerse yourself in the pressure of chromatic masses, in a substance between raw and cooked, in the impasto of brushes and the tracks of their grooves. In these maps of flesh, the arrangement of orgies at first glance may go unnoticed, for just a few seconds Afternoon blushes may perhaps redden the spectator. The voyeurism used by the artist is to lead him in reality to the seduction of painting, supposedly obscene acts act on curiosity and the search for ecstasy. What's extraordinary about these paintings lies in the mixture of the real and plastic, of what's allowed and forbidden.

Miguel Ángel Garrido Francolugo makes an interesting proposal, perhaps daring to do something that many people can't digest by presenting this exhibition called Animal en Celo. Maybe one day we'll be able to see the 'porno' or sex from an artistic... conceptual point of view... and reduce the morbidness that closes our minds??
