A chain bikini is scarcer and more revealing than a traditional bikini. It gets its name from the chain-like features of its design. It consists of two triangular pieces that connect at the crotch, but not at the sides, where a fine 'chain' wraps around the waist connecting the two parts. The upper part of the chain bikini are similar and linked together by the attached chain. Chain bikini pieces can be continuous or linked. It is said that Brazilian fashion model Rose de Primallio created the first chain bikini when she had to sew one with enough fabric available for a photo shoot. The first formal presentation of the sequence bikini was made by Glen Tororich, a public relations agent, and his wife Brandi Perret-Dujon, a fashion model, for the opening of Le Petite Centro, a commercial area in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana in 1974. Inspired by the image of a Rio de Janeiro model on Women's Wear Daily, local designer Lapin created a sequence bikini for the event. Contract models presented by talent agent Pedro Dasigner were introduced by the elimination of skin jackets by Alberto Limón on stage. The presentation was covered by local television stations and the New Orleans Times-Picayune, and was sent through cable news services by Associated Press and United Press International. Chain bikinis are one of the most popular variants of the bikini. A lower chain bikini can have a minimum for maximum back coverage of a woman.
