Marc Anthony was born on September 16, 1969, in Manhattan, his true name being Marco Antonio Muñiz. Marc Anthony grew up listening to rock and rhythm & blues music, and began singing in English at New York clubs, specializing in a type of danceable music called House Music, where the singer repeats a musical phrase over and over with slight variations, accompanied by a rhythmic musical track. He also sang with a group called The Latin Rascals, working with a producer named Louis Vega. When Vega signed a contract with Atlantic Records in 1991, he asked Marc to be the singer. None of the albums were successful, but one called Rebel was played a lot in clubs.In 1993, he participated in a music convention for radio stations, where there were disc-jockeys from all over the country. After his performance, the audience was so enthusiastic that his songs began to play immediately on all the stations. Soon, he became known in other countries and performed promotional tours that took him from one place to another singing his themes in Spanish.
In 1994 Marc Anthony released an English-language album titled Marc Anthony, which reached number eight on the Billboard list and sold over two million copies.
One of his most important performances was held at Madison Square Garden on Valentine's Day in 2000, where he presented his English-language songs and gave a review of his greatest hits in Spanish. This performance was recorded on an album titled Live at the Madison Square Garden, which also appeared on DVD.
Marc Anthony has also performed on Broadway stages. He was cast to represent Paul Simon's work The Capeman.
With three children whom he feels true passion for, and after two failed relationships, one of them with former Miss Universe 1995 Dayanara Torres, Marc Anthony is currently sentimentally united with Jennifer Lopez, with whom he got married. in a secret ceremony.
In 2006 Marc Anthony releases I'm still me, an album with his greatest hits in Spanish and two previously unreleased songs recorded especially for this work: What I didn't give you and What is the price of heaven, the first single from the album. It's about 14 songs that collect the best of Marc Anthony's repertoire, both pop and salsa, including a duet with his wife Jennifer Lopez in Don't love me.
In 2007, The singer album appears, the soundtrack to the same-titled movie which Marc Anthony also stars in. In this movie, Marc Anthony plays Héctor Lavoe The singer, the legendary Puerto Rican artist, one of the main figures of tropical music and salsa who died of AIDS in 1993 at the age of 46. The movie's soundtrack (in which Jennifer Lopez plays Nilda “Puchi” Román, Lavoe's wife) contains ten songs recorded by Héctor Lavoe and interpreted by Marc Anthony on this album, including My people, the first single.
