I'm bringing you the work of an Argentine artist and designer. His figurative work, as well as his fashion pieces, often use erotic and provocative images.
He developed his interest in art at a very young age, winning the first prize in an art contest sponsored by the local art museum at the age of 15. He studied Industrial Design at the University of Buenos Aires for two years before finding his vocation.
His first exhibition was criticized by the Catholic Church, which tried to censor it, eventually taking the matter to a notable television program. With his third show canceled and his work confiscated by the police due to its content, Urquiza left the country.
Urquiza's work is especially concerned with taboos around eroticism and nature. Often he represents nudity with a clear call to awaken, while another of his works explores decay in an ambiguous way as a crossing point between subversion and desperation.
