Finally a movie about Chicano romance(2009)(E.U.A.) 'La Mission' is the story of I Rivera (Benjamin Bratt), a respected San Francisco bus conductor for building beautiful cars and his rough and macho way. A rehabilitated ex-prisoner and alchoholic, my route to redemption is put to the test when I discover that my pride and joy - my only son, Jesse (Jeremy Ray Valdez) - is homosexual. In a homophobic attack, I violently beat up my son and abandon him. Out of pride, I lose my son - the best friend he has - and once again I lose myself. Emotionally broken and vulnerable, I become isolated and alone. At a moment of catharsis on the streets of La Misión, I realize that my patriarchal pride makes no sense for me, and to keep it, I have sacrificed the only thing I value more - love.
